About the business: My job at PEER 1 Hosting is to connect with people. Our clients, our staff, people in the community. I listen to who’s saying what, and give them a chance to be heard, gather feedback about our brands and make sure that information is put to good use. I also manage our blogs, forums and social media presence, and am a professional SWAG distributor – which means you’ll often find me at trade shows and other events.
Operating system: MAC OSX or Windows XP. I switched to a Mac last spring after years of doing Windows desktop support. I find it amusing because I’ve never really spent a lot of time learning how to use OSX so I still have the ‘ignorance is bliss’ thing going on with it. XP is definitely a love/hate thing.
Current project: Getting ready for SXSW! After that I’ll be working on a neat vblogging mini-series, so keep your eyes on the blogs
Hobbies: I work a lot! In my spare time I love riding my bike around Vancouver, hula hooping and doing yoga. Or watching (bad/old/etc) sci-fi with my girlfriends (we just finished the entire Matrix series, next is Star Wars!) I also have an awesome cat, so I spend a lot of time hanging out with him.
Favorite gadget: I just got an 11” MacBook Air and a new ipod nano. I guess I love my apple products in the “extra small” size! I love the Air because it’s ridiculously light, so I can carry it around in my messenger bag on my bike and I barely notice it. The nano is awesome because I use it while I practice hooping outside and it doesn’t get in the way at all. I used to use an iphone and well…. It got smashed :p
Hosting story: Modemgirl.ca is hosted at the Beach in LAX! I’m a terribly lazy sysadmin and I think it is incredibly hideous at the moment, so please don’t judge me. Someday soon I will spend some time and give it a good facelift! These days I mostly use Tumblr (serraboten.com) as a link aggregating photoblog of utter randomness, which hopefully satiates the world’s need for fresh serrawisms.
